About The Tower Bar

The Tower Bar is a tiny City Heights room on University Ave, sized intimately enough that there's no real distance between band and crowd. The bar sits under one of San Diego's odder landmarks — a 110-foot hollow Art Deco / Zigzag Moderne pylon dating to the building's 1932 origins as the Silver Tower Sandwich Shop, a drive-in soda fountain.

Programming runs punk, garage, indie, metal, pop-punk, the occasional tribute night and comedy. Recent acts have included Daikaiju!, The Meteors, and Black Tusk. Owner Mick Rossler has run the room since 2002 and books a steady weekly calendar of underground touring acts and locals.

One of San Diego's oldest continuously operating bars and one of its longest-standing punk rooms. Recommended when you want the show three feet from your face.
